Slenderleaf sundew is one of four sundew taxa (3 species plus one hybrid) found in British Columbia. It was collected in the province in Mount Robson Provincial Park in 2005 (Williston and Bartemucci 2007). Prior to this, it was reported in the province in 1995 from along the Akie River, south of Fort Ware in the Rocky Mountain Trench (MacKenzie, Simms and Moran) and from an unknown location by Boivin (1966-1967) (Williston and Bartemucci 2007). It differs from other sundew species by its linear leaves and rhomboidal, crateriform seeds which are 0.5-0.8 mm. long (see key listed below). In North America, it is found across Canada (exclusive of Labrador and the Yukon) and in five northern US states (USDA 2010). It is reported from calcareous wetlands (marl fens) (Schnell 1982), and is considered rare throughout its range (Williston and Bartemucci 2007).
